Sea Apples

I just picked up these little guy this past week. I was wondering how many people actually keep them in their reef knowing what could happen. I have always wanted one and my water conditions have been perfect for the past few months so I figured id give it a go! Who has had one go bad...what should I look for! So far it looks pretty happy...pumping its feeders in and out of its mouth! wish me luck...

Problem with sea apples is they are unlikely to do well in perfect water conditions. Not to say that your water shouldnt be perfect and that they dont thrive in pristine water ( cause they do this in the wild ) , but to say that in order to keep it well fed your quality is going to be difficult to maintain. Sea Apples are heavy filter feeders and require alot of particulate food ( phytoplankton, zooplankton, and possibly detritus ). There are people here keeping them hopefully they can help you out.

I knew a gal who had one that spawned(I assume that's what it was) and the fish all went after it and then dropped dead. It was an expensive lesson for her.
