Sea Dragon

dont get a sea dragon, they are very hard to care for, and the chance of you getting it to eat is not likely. Most will only eat live foods so unless you have a mysis culture setup then i would not try it. Why dont you just get a seahorse and save some cash and then the sea dragon can continue to live in the wild? just my opinion

Mysid culture, sourcing live mysis would be a major task until PE offers them live, but then they won't last long in a marine environment.

i posted a link a few weeks back to a vendor who sold them... i think it was $1,500 for it... they were captive bred weedy dragons...

so if you really like this animal let it live where it has evolved to live, in the grassy fields of the ocean with no walls or limit of food, Georgia Aquarium has a tank of weedy sea dragons and they have tried everything to make them take frozen or prepared foods but they only eat the live food. They have an offsite warehouse where they care for other animals and stuff and they dedicate a large mysid culture to the weedy sea dragons and they are the only animal that eats them. So if you plan on doing that, then by all means get one but its going to cost a crazy amount of money, and if you bought live mysid from pe that would most likely cost even more. Get a sea horse

PE sells MYSIS - freshwater.

What Georgia and the rest use are MYSIDS - marine.

What we sell to public aquariums around the world are MYSIDS.

If you have the money for the entire set-up and animal, you'll have the money to support the feeding of it most likely ;) While it may not be for you, others are quite capable of housing and caring for these animals in their homes.

rut ro ,my bad the ones that i was speaking of and that they got were ornate ghost pipe fish not sea dragons and they were $75 wholesale priced and they got them through QM . sorry for the confusion .

im aware of the diff between mysis and mysid....

yea i guess if your rich go ahead and blow it on a sea dragon.........or go to the aquarium and check out theirs. =]

Interesting...Guess I have to visit Aquarium of the Pacific and Monteray Bay Aquarium to see them.

Monterrey has the most wonderful display of them.

In the same area they have firefish I never knew could get so big or colorful. They do it up right there, even their reef display is good.
