I had this in a SPS tank, Had no problems with it.. It will however starve quickly after alage is gone..

Yes, and just watch out for Power heads they seem to like them from time to time. Good helper for Hair alage and other types of Macro algae. You can supplement them with Nori if your running out of algae.
