Sea Hare Ink or Toxin?

Silfer

Gonnae no dae that.
Does the sea hare release an ink or a toxin?

As I just got back from work to find my sea hare stuck in the powerhead, I tried to free him and he released a good amount of ink or w/e into the tank.

I'm just worried for my fish, the main lights are off and the moonlights are on so cannot see how they are, the chromis and cleaner wrasse seemed alright, but it's only been 5~10min.

Cheers

P.s. It's a Dolabella auricularia

If it was a big sea hare and you have a small tank it could pose some problems. Make sure the protein skimmer is running and run some carbon. I'd turn the lights on and see how everything looks.

Run carbon, test every parameter including ammonia, do a 30% water change if you can, and anything you can do to increase aeration would be good. Get a flashlight, and if you see your fish in breathing distress, never mind the water change and use the water as a refuge for the fish.

I had a sea hare die in my 80 gal, when I used my picker arm to grab it a large cloud of black came out of it. Nothing came of it though.

i had one die on me about a month ago in my 125 inked pretty bad redish color.. no thang negative happen i keeped checkin my perm's and nothang changed

The ink is defensive but it isn't toxic. It's just a soup or amino acids that overwhelms the smell/taste receptors of predators. The only reason to be concerned is if the slug itself dies, in which case it could cause an ammonia spike.
