Sea hare

Why would someone purchase a sea hare for you? Was it the same person that purchased the flame scallop?
But to the point...There are many different species but both of the examples you show were herbivores, so they should be fine. And yes, they all ink .

Lol are you stalking me or something? I bought the scallop with my 90 gallon fish tank off Craigslist, the scallop came with the tank. At the time I was a less experienced and didn't understand the needs of that animal.
:Second about the sea hare, I was on vacation for a month and the care taker of my tank decided to purchase some CC because I had a considerable amount of algae. I hope that answers your questions. :spin1:

Have had mixed success with them. World class crappers ......

Wish somebody would stock for me when I'm on vocation

Lol I was suprised to see a big fat rock looking slug in my tank when I got back. Luckily I knew they eat algae so I wasn't worried. :)

The tank looks way cleaner with them. My only concern is it dying quick and stinking up my tank. The care taker actually bought 2 and one died, so they removed it. I have carbon running so I think that helped. How long have you had success with yours for?

Sorry was a joke. your post was 'victimized' by spell check. Stocking instead of stalking; vocation instead of vacation.

Mixed success in the sense that the first one I had was an algae eating machine; the second wouldn't touch it. I'd imagine they were different species, though observably similar to me.

Thanks for the heads up, fixed it.

And You didn't have any casualties when your slug died? Doesn't seem like my tank inhabitants were hurt by the first slug.

My sea hare was in my tank for less than a month, cleared out all algae. I tried to feed heavier and stopped running my skimmer, but the tank wasn't high in phosphates. I gave him to my friend who had 300 gallons of hair algae. Pretty sure it lived for at least another year or more.

Yeah my tank is really clean right now :O. He cleaned up all the hair algae! I'm hoping he doesn't starve. Think I'll feed him some sea weed sheets.

A friend had one to clean hair algae. After it was all gone, she had to rehome it because it wouldn't eat anything she tried. And she tried it all, seaweed, included. Best to rehome in a couple of days if you cant get it to eat.

You must find it a new home. It will otherwise die for sure. They're also super sensitive to moving, so be careful and acclimate to the new home.
