I will try to figure out how to do a group buy for the Rochester area. Or if somebody is more familiar with group buys they can take over but Eileen and I would like to order and Syracuse is too far to pick up stuff. Post if you are interested and I will try to work out the details.

The shipment can go to me or if anybody wants it to go to them I'm happy with that too. The people that own the site are going on vacation so they won't be shipping till the last week of August so we have some time to figure out the details. I just figured I would initiate the idea and if somebody wants to step in feel free otherwise I will take it on. I live in West Henrietta close to Scottsville so if there is somebody who is more centrally located to people that are ordering that would work too. Whatever works best for everybody.

Yes I will set up the group buy, give me a day or two to figure it out. (unless somebody else wants to host it) I'm camping in Syracuse all week but will try to get it started.

Here are some details copied from Sealife's shipping rules.

Sealife tries to accommodate clubs and group orders to help defray shipping costs. The group coordinator must place an initial order and pay for the shipping costs as a normal order and include the group name and any group requests in the comments section. Subsequent orders may select the Prepaid Shipping: Group Buy option from the Shipping Options menu on the Delivery Information page and provide the group name and original order id on the Payment Information page. All Group Buy payments must be completed through Paypal.

So, one of us, presumably Barb (Newreef2) will make the original order and pay shipping. Then, each of us will place our order directly with Sealife. Barb will divide the shipping costs among those of us placing an order and we'll pay her our share of shipping when we pick up our order. We will have already paid for the order itself. Is that the way everybody understands it?

NewReef2 has to make the first order so the shipping will be paid in advance. Once she's done that, she'll let us know and we'll all be free to make our purchases. Since she's vacationing this week, it might be a while before she's able to do that. Barb, let us know when you're good to go and thanks in advance for volunteering take the helm on this.

Here is something I did in the past if anyone wants some advice. Set up a spreadsheet in google docs and give people access to it. They can then add what they want and keep running totals. It is a lot easier than email and posting things here. I set one up once for a reeftopia dot com order.

(A side note about reeftopia. They will actually package things for each person in the group order. For example if you have 5 people each getting 20 dnails they will send 5 bags with 20 each instead of 100 in one bag)

That's a great thought but the way sealifeinc does group buys means no one has to keep track of anyone else's order or payments. All orders are placed and paid for by the individuals participating, directly on the website, you just reference the name of the group buy when you check out.

Sealifeinc does this as well, and puts each person's order in a separate larger bag, so you can just grab it out of the box and look at the name on it. You don't even have to figure out which individual bags belong to whom.

I will be able to start the group buy for Rochester by the end of next week (probably earlier) but I need to find out what shipping date works for everyone and who will be participating! So send me a message or post here so I can make sure nobody gets left out. It looks like we have a lot of people that want to participate so our shipping charges shouldn't be too much for each of us! I did see on the website they ship Monday's and Tuesday's and it will be overnight shipping. I was thinking that by the time everybody places their orders we are looking at the shipment going out Sept 24 or 25, let me know if that works?
