Sea Monkeys(?)

I found a pack of Sea Monkeys that’s been knocking about since Christmas and wondered if they were safe to add to my tank(?)
I know they're brine shrimp and will just get eaten, but it might be fun to watch the frenzy, and some may find somewhere to hide and survive a little while.

I obviously don't want to if it will mess up my tank in any way... so I thought I'd check here first.

Thanks! :D

wont hurt a thing :) they may not hatch though, first because the fish and corals may just devour the eggs, and second because sea monkeys need a higher salinity to hatch out than most reef tanks provide (if I remember right anyhow).

Ive got a little Sea Monkeys on Mars tank around here somewhere.. I should set it back up... lol

I highly recommend hatching them outu in a seperate container first. Newly hatched artemia nauplii are highly nutritious and easy to digest. It's not certain if the seamonkey eggs are decapsulated or not.

I agree with Travis. They aren't decapsulated. The eggshells will make a huge mess in the tank, plus they're known to carry lots of bacteria that you might not want in the tank. Just as long as you hatch them in a separate tank there's no reason not to add them. They're a great food and fish and corals go nuts for them.

It's funny you brought this up. We have a guy at work that just set up a Sea Monkey "tank" at his desk. I keep (jokingly) telling him that I have a REAL big home for them at my place, he sould let me "baby-sit" them for a few days. I tell him my GSM will take goood care of them. :D

Now I may have to go try this myself!
