Sea protists

Hi all,

Does anybody have an information of sea protists in the bottle availability?

Mesocosm, I guess you should know the logic behind it.

[welcome]

Do you have any link to it?

I couldn't find any such product for aquaria. Lots of bacterial products, but they do not impress me with their utility.

Rotifer's are the only protist I know of that are commercially available. They are a primary first food for many species of marine fish larva. Some reef keepers also culture them as food for filter feeding species.

I frequently have my marine biology students look at tank water in search of specific protists. I have found forams, diatoms, and cilliates.

I've never seen them for sale and microbiology is not my specialty.

Do you have any resources for ID? If I could ID a species and its primary food I may be able to culture some. Much the way we used to culture paramecium in hay.

WOW! That's an awesome site. Thanks.

Let me see what I can do. My primary concern is that I have little ability to separate individuals with the equipment I have. :(

I will also check with my biological supply companies. If I can get a culture I'll check back with you.
