Sea-Swirl Setup Questions

I'm looking into getting a couple of Sea-Swirl units, and was wondering about mounting and position.

I have a 100g acrylic tank w/ center overflow. Should they be positioned in the corners, pushing water towards the overflow; or, on either side of the overflow, pushing water towards the sides?

BTW, the overflow has returns on either side. Any thoughts on whether to close these off when using the Sea-Swirls, or incorporate them"” run everything off the return pump?

Also, do I have to use the acrylic mounting brackets, or can I drill holes towards the back of the tank (as opposed to using the existing openings which are closer to the front). If I can drill holes, do I need to secure the units (how?), or can they simply sit on top.

I have a 1/2'' unit with the plastic mount on my glass tank they fit just find. I do not see how they would work on a euro brace type setup without the special brackets, they do have another option that the unit fits in the corner, you can call them they are very receptive for the best advice.

Yes, I saw the brackets, but I was wondering if I could get away without them. I'm afraid if I call them, they'd just tell me to purchase the brackets. I was thinking of drilling the top of the tank to fit the downspout, and placing the fitting from inside the tank. Then I'd use a rubber pad or feet under the unit, and let the unit sit on top of the tank. BUT, since I don't own one yet, I don't know if this would work.

The Sea Swirl has a pvc fitting that a elbow fits on you could add a piece to lengthen it the bracket has two finger tighten bolts that tighten against the inside glass on a tank, so you would need to put a piece of acyrlic about 1/4 thick and mount that to the back of the tank for the bracket to work.
