Has anyone ever had their sea urchin eating on their acros...? just wondering...
cause mine is doing that? any solutions...?

Thanks in advance...

I have an urchin and it does go on the sps from time to time, haven't seen any negative effects yet.

i have 2 types of urchins. longspined and pencil. both species had to be move to the fuge due to sps munching. they wont climb in top of them but they eat the bottom edges where they would encrust. ive had a few sps's die on me due to stress.

Just moved both of my black spiney urchins to the sump because I saw one pooping neon colored poop a few days ago. Figured neon colored poop would only come from coral. Then yesterday I noticed where my tri-colored acro has been encrusting nicely was gone in a dime sized spot on the rock, and as I noticed this I witnessed an urchin chowing down on another one of my acros. Plucked him off and he had removed a good chunk of one of the tips.
Shame, cause they did an amazing job of keeping the algae levels down.
Any luck with other urchins that won't eat my coral?

So ... when the tiny black urchin crawled out of a new piece of live rock I purchased I thought... free and interesting... then two more crawled out. I put a couple of small SPS frags in that tank to monitor frags for pests and the next morning found an urchin attached and pooping white pellets! Not only did it eat the tissue off it ... it ate the skeleton right down to the frag plug. I figure maybe it did it bc it was after pests. Two days later I come home from work and find it ate another frag.
