Seabae

I just bought a seabae last week and it is now 1/2 the size it was when i bought it. And it has yet to put its foot down. I have moderate water flow with 4 compact lights 2 actnic, and 2 10k total watts 260. My temp is 78, Ph 8.3, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate 0, Calcium 420, Kh 8, Phos 0, Alk is 300. Any sugguestions

These animals can take a long time to get established; have patience. They can also expand and contract incredibly, so don't be too alarmed by its size.

I think it took mine about 3 weeks for it to firmly attach itself to a rock. I simply placed it in an area where it was well protected and wouldn't get blown around. For the first week I didn't worry about lighting or feeding; just let it adjust to the tank conditions.

After a while I tried feeding it but it wouldn't accept anything, and the food just helped attract the other inhabitants which only irritated the seabea even more. So, I used to make a tent out of a few nets I had, some people say to build a crate of sorts to cover the anemone, but I found the nets worked good enough most of the time. The first time it successfully eat, it took well over 20mins for the food to be consumed. Then I took the nets off, thinking it was safe, but in only a few seconds my cleaner shrimp was on top of my seabea ripping the food out of its mouth.

I had to do this feeding practice for easily 3 months before it got sticky enough to hold on to its own food. If yours is anything like mine, it will require A LOT of nursing to bring back to health, but it is possible. Once healthy, these animals are very hardy.
