I have been told that I should dose my tank with reef carbonate but that it will cause a false pH reading. Is this true? Have any of you even use or are currently using this product? It is made by seachem
i use seachem reef carbonate and seachem reef builder once a week and have been doing so for 3 years. all my corals are growing fast and with great color Etc. etc. my parameters run @ 10dkh so i would say from my personal experience that's BS sounds like somebody is thinking they no more then they really do(maybe if you dont use reef builder with it it may give false readings but you need all the info)..i have spoke with seachem personally and believe they strive to make there products the best of the best aquavitro is also a seachem product if my memory serves me correctly.
Allow an hour or 2 after you dose anything and your test readings will be more accurate. If you test right after you'll get crazy readings because your tank water will not have had time to stabilize from the additions. Otherwise I would think that what you test is close to what the levels are, unless you have a test kit that is way off, but all test kits can vary based on their brand and when they were made...
