Seaclone

I have a SeaClone 150 from Aquarium Systems. It is starting to become a piece of junk. It isn't but 5 months old or so. I bought it new and began using it after my tank cycled. It has worked fine for the last 5 months, except when it spills bubbles back into my tank. However, the last week, maybe longer, it hasn't been working. There is nothing collecting in the collection cup. And it doesn't seem to have enough foam below the collection cup to rise into the cup. I have cleaned the foam sponge and the air intake tube. The "tornado" effect is working well and there is plenty of bubbles rising up. Just no foam. I would normally say that it is working fine, just nothing to really collect except that my phosphates are at 5. So...shouldn't it be doing something, and isn't my skimmer the reason my phos. are that high? How do I fix it?

Btw, I added poly fiber recently to help with my phosphates til I get my skimmer online.

heres how you fix it-----throw it in the trash it will never work----get a nice skimmer ---as you go furhter in the hobby you will realize a skimmer is one of the most important parts of your tank if not the most important--they can be relatively expensive but this is the nature of the hobby--so you should dump the seaclone while you can and get a nice skimmer

i think you have a 55 g so look into ASM G2 and G3

trust me here i think everyone will tell you the same

Seaclones are crap but you can get them to work, at least well enough until you can obtain a better unit. don't use the instruction that came with the unit, instead, undo the air valve completely off, wait at least 30 seconds, start screwing it back in, until you first feel a little tenion on the valve. Then make small 1/4 turn increments, if you see a stream of microbubbles start, thats a smidge too far. It takes my Seaclone 150 about half a day to a full day to start foaming after setting it correctly, but sometimes it'll kick in after a few minutes. It's extremely sensitive adjustments, My SC will push out about half a cup every other day of solid dark green sludge, not as good as other skimmers I hear but it's better than nothing.
