I have a seaclone that was given to me about a month ago and it blows....I was just wondering if upgrading the pump would do anything good or not....and also can I get a site or suggestions for a mod on it...thanks alot

Sorry to say it but IMO I think you'd be much happier in the long run if you invested in a better skimmer.

im in the process of turning mine into a phos reactor/media filter. i did all the mods i could to mine and it never worked to what i expected out of it. i ran a wood air stone inside to make more bubbles, changed out that stupid air valve, and shortened the inner tube to make longer air/ water reaction time. sorry i cant find the link for the skimmer mods but here is one for the media reactor..http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1272750

lol yea I know that already...but it was free and at this time I dont have the money to spend to get a skimmer worth buying...so I was just looking for something temporary to work with it...

hey thanks alot...ill look at that and see...if it doesnt work then i will just have to spend some money on something good...what would work well on a 20 long

We have been having a discussion over at this thread:

There are a couple guys that are willing to make the bioballs for the bioball mod. I am waiting for mine to arrive any day now to give it a try. From what I see, the bioball mod is really the only promising one, as it makes it more like a NW. I really didn't want to add the airstone and wasn't convinced about cutting the riser tube down. I will let you know how it works for me once I receive it...

I did the bioball mod and the airstone mod on my SeaClone. It did help, but it does little to satisfy your desire for a good skimmer.

I am going to give this a try. I am going to get an MSX once I start my 75g upgrade build, but for now I am just trying to get the seaclone to do more than capture evaporated water...
