No, a sump would not work for a seahorse. At a minimum I would recommend a 29 gallon take for a pair of seahorses (reidi, erectus, barbs..etc).

But if your sump is a 75 gallon aquarium with 50 gallons devoted to a 'refugium' (like mine is :)) you could consider it if your system temperature is right. You still have to worry about what else is in the system from a pathogen point of view though.

But then again, why have such amazing creatures in your sump?

I did not know there was a picture in the OP (couldnt see it on the comp I was on). That sump is not acceptable for SHs.

doesnt make sense

What doesn't make sense? That sump is too small for seahorses, and even if it was big enough why would you want to put them in a hidden compartment?

The way I see it is due to the level of care required for seahorses, if they aren't going to be your main display then you probably shouldn't get them. They shouldn't just be some little side addition to a sump.

Man I have to say he has a point. Sea horses arent like fish they are like us. I have a friend he taps on his tank to feed and his seahorses come to the top in a line and wait. I have even seen them get up on top of his lid. Now why would you want to do that to a beautiful creature.
