You want to get captive bred seahorses. A good place is Seahorsesource.com and from other members with captive bred seahorses. They are much cheaper than tank bred and wild caught because you have all the diseases that go along with them.
Each species has their own parasites. Most people won't even mix horses from different sellers. They do need to be quarantined. Do not mix different kinds of seahorses do to the fact that they could cross breed. There is even a risk in putting seahorses and pipefish together.
All of the species of seahorses have their uniqueness. They can change colors on you depending on their surroundings. My personal favorites are H. Reidi and H. Erectus.
Clams and seahorses do not go together. Seahorses get their tails stuck inside the clam and can kill them.
