Seahorse Tank newbie

So my wife wants a seahorse tank, what are some good pointers to start a new seahorse tank. Are they difficult to maintain?

Easy pointers:
1. Bigger the tank the better
2. Buy Captive Bred seahorses
3. Keep the temperature below 74F
4. Keep slow moving fish and non stinging corals
5. Double your filtration expectations.

Well that's not an absolute but some, including myself, would recommend a species only tank for at least a year until you are fairly certain of successfully keeping the seahorses you start with.
At the moment I don't plan on mixing species or adding other fish but some have managed it successfully. However, many more have failed in the attempt to do so.
If you fail, was it due to pathogens from the other additions or was it due to something that would have happened any way? I'd suggest be successful without first before trying others.

Would I need a skimmer on this tank, is bioload a problem with having two or three on 29 gal tank?

While a skimmer is not an absolute necessity, it is certainly a very good thing to add to the system as it will remove dissolved organics from the water.
