Sealing a Stand

What should I use to seal my 2x4 stand?

Whatever you have on hand: paint, poly, etc., unless you plan on having it constantly submerged.

It will help keep the lumber a little more stable and lessen your chances of it twisting or warping but the chances of that are probably pretty slim as long as the lumber is well cured.

If you do seal it, be sure to seal everything. If you don't it will absorb moisture at different rates and be much more prone to movement.
