Sealing my stand/canopy?

I'm curious if its necesary to seal the inside of my stand/canopy. Everything I've read said its a good idea, but all my equipment will be in the fish room so really I won't have any water except for a little salt spray from the overflow. My dad doesn't think its necesary, but a gallon of Kilz is only $8 or so.

What do you think? Worth the time and money to put it on? Do I just want the "regular" Kilz?

I'm a sucker for 3-5 coats of polyurathane.
Kilz works wonders also.

I sealed mine with a base coat of Killz and then painted it with enamel. Holding up fine so far!

Enamel paint is extremely resealant to water, being oil based.

Pretty much the same here. Base coat of Kilz, 4 coats of enamal paint with another two coats of poly. And my sump is in the basement. My stand is a major piece of furniture in our living room so I took the extra time and money to try and make it as bullet proof as possible.

I'll probably do a coat of Kilz and then some enamel then. It also should reflect stray light a little bit (not much but better than nothing).

This tank just keeps getting more expensive every day
