Searching for non-traditional marine systems

I am looking for information on a wide variety of marine systems that do not encorporate the "typical" styles and specimens. this includes coldwater, invert only, and most other unusual biotopic designs. Pictures are much appreciated, but it would be nice if you could provide other nformation particularily where you purchased the specimens, and what specific regimens you must adhere to in order to sustain these species successfully.

Thank You.

Thomas--Well, I don't have a camera, I am not doing anything particularly "scientific", I am realatively new to the (salt water) hobby, and my set up is new enough that it is way to early to judge "success". That said, I think it is a little atypical, but by no means unique. I am setting up a 75 gallon display planted to sea grass with a pair of Whitley's boxfish as the main "display" fish. I have a few corals (left over from when I was headed towards a more "traditional" reef), an assortment of other fish because they appeal to me and a 55 gallon refugium. Both refugium and display tank have a DSB and very modest amounts of live rock.

If any of this fits your "research" needs, I am happy to provide more details. In the meantime, it is the most fun I have had in a long while. And I make it a point to have fun whenever I can.

if you are willing to go through the aggressive fish forum, I saw a tank that was dedicated to various scorpion fish. It looked as though it was a pile of rubble w/ a few various corals. It was a magnificent tank.

Do a search for Steve Tyree. He employs a rather unique natural sponge and Cryptic Organism filter system.

Seahorse tank. Lots of algae, only a few corals.
