Searching Used Tank & Equipment

Craigslist is the devil.

I look too much and find too many great deals. I firmly blame CL for forcing me to have the 5 tanks that I have around the house.

It's to be avoided at all costs.

There are a lot of local "yard sale" sites in my area on Facebook and that's actually where I found my 135 gal; there are always tanks and parts available on one or more of the pages... not that there is any guarantee that any of it is worth anything, but if you're looking for used, you might happen upon something worthwhile.

With regards to CL and hind-sight being 20/20, I missed some really good deals in the beginning before I was actively reading Reef Central.

I'm sure it varies by area. But in my region there is rarely anything really interesting on CL. Old dirty tanks with external overflows, wet dry filters, Petco powerheads, olive colored zoanthids. And I rarely if ever see realistic pricing.

Local clubs in Dayton as well as nearby cities like Cincinnati and Columbus could prove very useful. I'm with Jscwerve, I have 2 used tanks and 2 that I made myself. But skimmers, pumps, light fixtures, chillers... almost my entire hardware list is either used or special deals (store closing or group buys).
