Seastar dying?

Hi,
I´ve had this sea star for quite some time (6 months or so) and has always been moving around. Since this week, it started decomposing...
There have been no changes in water values or any other things.... the aquarium has been stable for quite some time now with the only issue of algae growth (more or less controlled).

Is there anything I can do or is this the beginning of the end? He is still alive as you can see in the picure, the feet are coming out to move around and he does move...although less than before.

I would say its starving to death. I lost a sand sifting star that way. Do you feed it?

I have a chocolate chip star in my refug that I put a piece of krill or cod fish under every month or so for it to eat.

Thanks Julie for your reply.
No, I´m not feeding it specifically. Wasn't aware of that .... will try your suggestion. Would shrimps do too?

The beginning of the end was when it was captured. Sadly most of these starfish perish in aquariums. If you are one of the few who are fortunate enough to get one that will eat, you are in the minority. As beautiful and tempting to own as they are, they are one of those creatures best left in the ocean.

I am sorry yours is on the way out. :-(

Give it a try. Put him on the sand with a piece of shrimp under his center, he might eat. If you have hungry fish, you should feed them at the same time so they don't try to steal food from the star.

Based on what happened to mine, I think its to late for your guy.

Sorry
