Seattle area water at 28 TDS from tap. Need RO?

I'm getting 28 TDS out of the tap (KH < 1, GH < 1 with one drop change for API tests). Would folks still suggest an RO system?

That would give me a few hundred gallons. Maybe just an activated carbon and di resin system would be a good idea? Amazon.com

DI will deplete pretty quickly without having an RO membrane before it IMO. Can you get a water report from your local water company? That will tell you what. “Contaminants” are in the water. This would help determine if you could just use dechlorinated tap.

Agreed with griss, but just for another opinion, there is at least some sense of assurance with a good four-stage RODI; contaminants not particularly harmful to us, but lethal to our inhabitants, can enter through a lot of places along the way from the treatment facility to your tap. I'd get one.

For the record, where I live we have some of the best tap water in the US. That said, I still run a 6 stage RO/DI.

Yep, all depends on what's in that TDS. I have a high amount of copper in mine.

That report looks pretty good and doesn't show they use chloramines which is a good thing. The chlorine can be left to gass off. Just don't use it right away.

Do you have coper piping in the house?
