Seaweed / gorgonians

I just got back from a trip to a small island off the coast of georgia called Tybee island. Its just south of south carolina. Any ways, I found this really pretty red seaweed floting arround in the waves. It is thin and stringy with fern leaf shaped ends. I thought i would take some back home with me to put in my 29 gallon SH tank to be. However, I want to make sure that it will not bring any bad diseases or anything like that into my tank. Should I add it? I also have a dwarf seahorse tank recently treated for hydroids with panacur. Would it be safe to put some in ther?

I also found a purple gorgonian. Would this be ok as well?

Hmmm ... never done anything straight from the ocean before. I would at least freshwater dip the plants to rid of ectoparsites. Can you dip a gorg?

Hopefully someone who has done this will chime in.

You can freshwater dip them.

I'd be careful about adding the gorg to your drawf tank though. The panacur stays in the rock for a long time and will leach back into the water and may kill the gorg. The macroalgae should be fine.
