I've had a false perc for almost two years without an anemone. I just purchased a sebae anemone and the clown doesn't seem to know it is there. Will a clown host with that anemone. Is there anything I can do to "introduce" them?
I've got two true percs who still haven't managed to find their nems and I've had a RBTA in there for 8 months and an H Crispa in there for 6 months.
If they go in they go in and if they don't they may eventually and there isn't much that can be done about it.
We had 2 clowns that wouldn't go into our carpet anemone they would rather use the open brain coral or leather. After asking how we could get them to use it everyone told us if they hadn't taken to after having the carpet for 2 months that they wouldn't. I ended up going to walmart buying some small suction cups w/ hooks, fishing line and small mesh netting. I cut the net so I could place it around the carpet and used the suction cups and fishing line to secure it to where we needed. Then I caught the fish and placed them in the netting w/ the carpet. They only had a about 4 inches above the carpet to so the only thing they could nestle up to was the carpet. By the second day they where both in the carpet. I left them like that for 1 week. Fed by using a turkey baster to push food thru the net. Now the 2 clowns use the carpet as there host and leave our open brain & leathers alone. The male never seems to leave except when feeding.
We did this about 5 months ago. BTY the clowns are true percula.
