I got a yellow sebae anemone on Saturday. He was healthy looking in the LFS tank, and well attached to the rock there. The LFS man gently coaxed him off of his rock and I took him home. He was doing great, opening up, reacting to light, and even ate some plankton I squirted on him on Sunday. However, Monday night I noticed a membrane that seemed to be detaching from all around his foot. Last night (tuesday) I found the membrane still on the rock I had put him on, but the actual anemone was upside down on the sand next to it, like he'd fallen off. When I went to place him back on the rock, I noticed his foot wasn't sticky anymore!!!! It wasn't long before he'd fallen off again, but this time I left him overnight to see if he was just trying to find a more suitable rock. He was still upside down this morning, so I placed him on a different rock, sort of wedged in so that he won't fall over again. He's been there all day, and has opened up, but I can see that his foot isn't attached to the rock under him. Help! He's acting healthy but won't stick! His tentacles are sticky, but not his foot. It WAS sticky prior to this membrane shed thing. I think he somehow shed a vital membrane, and I don't know what to do. This is my first anemone and I wasn't aware that I'd picked one of the more difficult ones to care for! *The torch coral I purchased the same day is doing awesome*.
