Sebae Anenome

Dec 2nd was my 40th Bday... My wife went to the store and purchased a Sebae anenome for me and a fireshrimp. The next few weeks with the anenome were very stressful but I learned alot about them (PH waterflow ECT) Sadly I could not save that anenome because I believe he was bleached (he was white with Purple tips no brown at all).

I adjusted my tank and added an extra powerhead, and I believe I can now host an anenome so We went to the local reef store suffolk county fish and reef. Purchased a nice brown colored one and had my water double checked to be sure. Everything checked out great so I brought the new one home acclamated him to the tank. He moved from one side to the other, backed himself in a perfect corner and BLEW UP like a baloon... He has been like that since last night he is literally 3 times the size he was in the Reef store.... Should I be concerned about this?

no, this is normal behaivor. please read faq's, and search about them. wetwebmedia, marinedepot, the links at reefcentral are all good READING places. there is lots and lots of information for you in those places

When you say he blew up like a balloon, do you mean he expanded and inflated? Maybe posting a picture for us would be helpful.

When mine eats and is happy, he's quite a bit larger and covers more area than when he hasn't eaten for 5 days or so. If it's something like this it could just be that he's content.

Now, if the center (mouth) is expanding that could be a problem.

I'm not good with the mechanics and numbers part of this hobby. I'm much better at picking out and caring for the critters in the tank, but I wonder about your lighting. I don't know if it's enough. Luckily you're starting with a healthier specimen than you had last time, so you've got that on your side.

Good luck!

Almost forgot to post a pic... this is him. I tried to get a pic of his mouth but he keeps closing up, its open around the size of your pinky nail and he aet a silverside the other day..

Man I had to fight with the shrimp over that one.

Let me know what you all think :)

I think it looks pretty decent. It's a little on the light side, but you already knew that. There are people on here who know more than I do about these things, so hopefully one or two of them will chime in :)
Good luck and enjoy!
