Sebae Nem not setting foot

I have a Sebae Nem in my tank that has been there for about 2 weeks now. Its not in the best shape and needs to eat but so t set its foot and hasn't since its been in the tank. I've tried just about everything. Lately I've had it up on some rock giving it a good place to set and been using some PVC to kind of hold it in place so that it doesn't float away or fall off. The best It does is reaches its tube out to set possibly and sometimes looks like it might be set but it will not attach. What else can I try here?
 
Sebaes (hereractis crispa)can be tricky. Some like rock surfaces and some prefer to bury their foot adjacent to a rock in the sand bed. It's possible it might be looking for a sandy habitat to feel comfortable.
 
I have tried both, with sand the nem doesn't even try to dig at all, the only place it shows any interest is in the area I have put it. Even if it would prefer it a different area, it should at least set foot and then move to where it wants to be. It doesn't move at all, it just sits there.
 
Hmmm.... Well if it were me I would try and place it in a spot where it would least likely get blown around and end up in a powerhead. From there just give it time. Crispas usually take a while to come around if they are going to do so. As a kind of side note, all the sebaes I have owned will tolerate a fair amount of current when healthy, but seem to expand the best under softer/gentler water flow. Best of luck!

Thats bleached pretty bad. They can recover from being bleached if not to far gone already..

There usually is two reasons a anemone wont settle. It can not find a place it likes or its foot is damaged.
 
I use T5HOs, 2 Daylight 10k and 2 Actnic(sp?) blues. Was given to me for free so I figured I would try. I am losing this battle and don't think there is much I can do :(
 
I think it needs more light. H.crispa like pretty intense light. Mine was just as bleached as that one and with strong feedings, it made a huge turnaround.

I agree they like intense lighting and even current.

But when they are bleached I will put them under low light and slowly bring the light up over like a month.
 
I had a Sebae before this that did great until its tube got badly damaged by live rock and it died. My fear us that this might be past the point of coming back, tho I will keep trying until the fight is lost
 
you tried putting it on the sand near some rock and surrounding the foot with a bunch of rubble to help it plant? since its not planting its foot, have you tried to look at the foot and see if its damaged?

I haven't tried putting rubble around the foot no. The most successful so far has been putting it into a crevice on LR. It stretches its columnm out like it wants to attach but doesn't end up attaching. Starting to wonder if maybe its just too weak. There are no noticeable injuries to the foot that I can see.
 
Updated pic of the nem.... looks like he is getting better but someone more of an expert could probably tell better than I. He still hasn't set his foot but I'm thinking/hoping he will as he gets better.

Mine set its foot within about 5 minutes in my tank at the base of rock in the sand bed.

No advice for you, but good luck!
