I have a 60 gallon frag tank and I want to have a section of it just to breed RBTA's. What do you guys think about using eggcrate for sectioning the tank? I'm worried that they might get caught in it. Anyone have a good suggestion?

I used the eggcrate to section off a portion of my 40 breeder to prevent my roses from going into the power and heater section, it managed to go over the other side with a 1/2 space on both sides of the glass wall. they somehow are drawn to danger, like little children. make sure both sides of the eggcrates has zero gap. even at the bottom of the crates too.

As Pinkskunk mentioned, BTAs can fit through the smallest openings. Eggcrate has limited use.

Depending on how much space you want to dedicate to the BTAs, and if you're okay with the how it looks, you can also just float a large plastic strainer in the frag tank. A few LFS in my area keep their nems this way.

If aesthetics are a concern, you're probably better off getting a piece of acrylic and drilling small holes in it (think of a drip tray on a wet/dry) and using it to section off the nems. I tried using eggcrate and it only works for big nems (I have gigantea). I also tried adding window screen material over eggcrate, held in place with zip ties, but I found that it collects detritus and waste on the screen itself -- I think the holes are a little too small.

You might also try putting the BTA's foots in PVC elbows with one end temporarily blocked off since they prefer their foot to be in a crevice. If given the right conditions they are less likely to move. The elbows work nice because it is easy push them out (just put the back side against a powerhead and the bubble comes flying out).
