Security cameras that are Apex friendly?

Well I've decided to get some security cameras and I've never had any so I figured maybe I could be pointed in the right direction. I want one or all to be able to work with the Apex and record on a hard drive. Is this possible? Or do I need to get a system for security and a separate camera for the Apex?
Either way what should I get. Not looking to break the bank but would like some decent cameras.

I've got a few Foscam 9821P's and an older Cisco on my system now. I'm adding a Foscam 9826P to my system later this week. What ever cam you choose, you will need to setup port forwarding on your router. That said, most cameras from Foscam, Amcrest, D-Link, Cisco etc will work as long as they can be set to mjpeg.

I would suggest you take a look here at the Neptune forum in the camera section. If you are looking at a particular model, chances are it's been discussed there. There are also instructions for most popular camera models that work with Fusion. You may have to search by model though.

While I couldn't record anything, I have used old iphones to act as video cameras through my apex. They worked great and I didn't have to purchase new cameras since I already had 2 or 3 old iphones laying around the house.

The reolink cameras work pretty well for security cameras and are not very expensive. I have mine setup (rlc-410) to dump images/videos when it detects motion at certain days/times of day to the built in FTP server on my router with a usb thumb drive for storage. One nice thing with these is they communicate with a secure server in Amazon web services so you don't need to setup port forwarding/exposed host in your home router to talk to it from outside your home network. They have a decent app you can load on your phone too. You can setup logins and then you just scan the QR code on the camera or input the serial number to talk to it.
