Sedra 5000 pump question for replacing

Hey guys my sedra 5000 to my asm skimmer died.wondering if anybody knew if the non pinwheel sedra 5000 was the same?
Meaning i only have to swap over my pinwheel and volute to the non pin wheel pump.TIA

You can, but you also need the piece that the elbow slips onto on the output end. I was unable to remove that from my 9000. But I was able to take a 1" pvc fitting (I believe a plug but you'll have to play around), and cut/dremel to fit. Works.

Great! i'll figure out something, i plan to mesh mod the regular prop since i figured it would be better than hacking up another pin wheel.And for $50.00 verses $100.00

If only the old pump died, use the old impeller (if it worked) that you modded. Or pop off the end and put it on the new one.

The output sizes are differant I made a bushing on a lathe at work.

That is the more difficult route, but obviously can be done. I took a 1" plug, cut off the end, and dremeled out the inside a bit to let it slip over the output of the stock pump. The elbow slips nicely onto that. Done.

Hmm the pump and prop were about 4 yrs old.i noticed the magnet was really easy to pull out.I know it used to be hard to pull out so i assume it may just be the that.
But the needle wheel is removable from the magnet?i never noticed. guesse i'll have to cut down the new prop and mesh it also and see what works better.i'll be using enka mat.

Try them both. Yep, in fact, every time I've cut the needles off that whole acrylic disc has popped off. Surprised yours didn't. You can pry it off of there and pop it on the other one.

I was pretty brutal with mine when i modded it and it stayed on.
I should have the new pump and air meter next week along with some new mesh. so i'll post back what i find.
