it should works with G-3 however you might need to rinse the skimmer about .5-1" since the pump is much bigger than thr 5000.

Yes and you may need new Uniseal

No need just put a piece of egg crate on the bottom of the skimmer to raise it up. The pump outlet / skimmer inlet you can modify with some tape and flex tube.
