Sedra keeps tripping GFI

Hi,I have a Sedra 5000 powering my skimmer. i took out the entire skimmer for cleaning. now, when i plug in the pump while its submersed it trips the GFI (so glad I installed them!). I took it out, inspected it, and plugged it in and it still trips it.

Sounds like there's a leak to the motor or something? I dont see any cracks. How do I begin to examine it?

bheron,

Thank you for posting, there are a few possibilities. One could be, the GFI is bad. The second possibility is a short in the pump where water is penetrating and thus creating the issue you are dealing with. Try plugging the pump into another outlet and see if the same issue persists. If not, then its a bad GFI, if it does then you would need to consider purchasing a replacement pump.
