SO i took the black round filter that was on my sumps return pump nozzle for about 1.5 yrs and placed it in my QT... am I good to throw fish in immediately?

used water from my main tank as well - test kits 0 nitrites .25 ammonia
low nitrates

I'm not gonna get a cycle while fish is in QT am I?

Where is the black round filter now? In a HOB? Water needs to pass through it in order for it to be effectively used as QT biomedia.

its attached to a pvc pipe sitting in tank - I have more sponges in tank and one
in HOB - i didnt think water needs to pass through it - what if I squueze the sponge in water and let it get to the other sponge in the HOB?

In order for maximum filtration, water should be constantly flowing through it. So, I would angle a powerhead so that flow passes over it.
