No the "top secret new camera" everyone is waiting for is the 5DmkII. The only people I think who would consider a 1000D are those who are buying their 1st DSLR. Those who are upgrading an existing system likely already own or are looking to buy something more exotic.

Thanks. I thought it seemed pretty weak for all the rumor. Doesn't look like the new one would be anything I'd consider at this point either (way over my head just yet), so I won't worry about waiting to see what it is.

Mmmm but I will consider it. I already have $2000 set aside but that won't be nearly enough. This camera (whenever it comes) is going to be BAD A**. No other company even has a camera to compete with the one its replacing yet.

Actually the full frame D700 released a little over a week ago looks like it could compete. Hopefully this was the incentive Canon had been waiting for the upgrade.
