Seeking for potassium test kit

FWIW, Elos produces a test kit for Potassium also. I've used it for the first time last week. It wasn't that difficult to use. I would not bet the house on the precision of this test kit but it probably falls in the same range of accuracy as the other test kits mentioned in this post.

I get the same result as you using the new RS Potassium Pro kit (440-450) ...hard to believe it was so high. I recently sent in a water sample for professional evaluation to aquariumwatertesting.com and my results by the lab showed my potassium to be below acceptable range at 266.

They have a history of low readings and I would not rely on that vlaue (266 ppm) for any purpose.

Thanks, Randy for the feedback.

They also showed my boron to be 0.5 mg/L. I'll order the Salifert test before getting starting any dosing.

Do you know if the Hanna Iron Checker is any good? I recently started the Red Sea Reef Care Program (auto dosing as travel extensively) but can't determine from their Iron test the level so looking at possibly Hanna.

Have read some of your articles. Thanks for the contribution to the hobby!

Richard

I think it unlikely the boron "needs" any dosing in any reef tank getting water changes, and I also think it unlikely to be that low in yours.

I think the iron checker may not work in seawater (IIRC), and in any case, you never need iron high enough to be detected with any kit available. NSW is very low in iron.

Thanks, Randy.

Red Sea with their new Reef Care Program (a balling method) use Iron as the lead indicator for dosing the metal trace elements (Color C). Their test kit uses subtle color changes which I can't determine. Folks at AWT tell me they will add Iron to their test profile shortly.

My tanks has lots of macroalge in two refugiums so I do believe my trace elements may be abnormally low as a result from five years of non-dosing (recently started dosing the RS elements - and yes everything has really improved dramatically).

Richard
