The new streams look nice and I would love to have a pair, but since I already have a 6101 I will probably get another to match. It appears the prices have been lowered on the current style pumps with these new ones on the way.

What I'm very interested in is the new multicontroller, the 7096. It will be cheaper than the 7095 and give more control, the only catch is you need a computer connect to it to program. I guess it is Tunze answer to the Neptune Aquasurf.

Good stuff.

I'm waiting to hear more, I like the idea of a cheaper control unit that actually seems to have more functionality plus that secret wave mode whatever it turns out to be may be something to think about.

I think the prices had to come down. I have a couple of the 6100s and they work great. I also have a couple of the Koralia 4s ($45 each). I do not think that they compare but they are like 1/5 the price, come with magnet mounting and require no zip ties to keep them in place. So if asked 2 6100s or like 8-10 Koralia 4s - ?.

I have Seio, Koralia and Tunze. In my opinion the Tunze stuff is the best - moves most water, lowest energy, etc. but it is way over priced. I really do not think I am getting THAT much extra bang for a bunch of extra bucks.

I think the Seio 2600 moves as much water as the 6100, gets froze up less and the impeller is more durable. The negatives - it is maybe bigger and puts more heat in the water.

I think Tunze is like Oakley - they are never on sale. Buy a pair of Oakleys at $180, tear them up, they replace them for $50 as many times as you like. You know they are still making money at $50. Materials wise the Tunze are too similar to Seio and Koralia and you know both of them are making money at a fraction of the Tunze price.

They no doubt have great products but I think Tunze had to reduce the price to stay in business.

Most all high end products are victim of diminishing returns. A $500 skimmer may be 5X better than a $250 one, but a $1000 one is usually not 5X better than the $500 skimmer.

Carb, I think you are correct. Tunze (like Oakley) perhaps was in a situation of little competition. That has/is changing. But unlike Oakley there is not such a market for Tunze hats, shirts, etc. We are willing to pay for the name but only if it is on hobby related products.

I can not imagine what their product margin must be.

Either way, I would pay more for Tunze stuff just not as much more as I once did. I hope the prices do come down. High or not it is the best of what I have/seen/used - just not to the degree that it cost.

I think there biggest competition was not seio or Koralias, they had to make there products more affordable than Vortechs. Also another reason why the new controller is cheaper and programmable. The wave generation on the Vortechs honestly blows the wave box away (for now). However Tunze has a great reputation, longevity, and customer service attitude, they really set the bar higher for there competition. Tunze's paradigm and business strategy is shifting because up until now they had no real competition. Without serious competition they could charge whatever they liked for a product with no comparison. Now there are many options and new ones on the horizon. It's not clear who will win the "Wave Wars" but there are 2 major powers to keep your eyes one right now IMO, Tunze and Vortech.

I agree with Ron, I did not mean that the Seio and Koralias were the same level as the Tunze - they are much less of a product. But they are an alternative and at a fraction of the cost.

I know almost nothing about the Vortechs, if they are comparitable to the Tunze - it is a win for the buyer.

the nano wavebox sounds very cool. I wish it would work on a 20" tank. Id be all over it.
