SEIO and anemone protection

Does anyone use a SEIO super flow that also has an anemone? I am trying to determine if there is any way to protect the SEIO intake from a wandering anemone.

My anemone is well settled (hasn't moved in weeks), BUT he had received some tentacle damage weeks ago, when wandering, by getting partially caught in a power sweep rotating mechanism (had the sponge filter on, which didn't help protect him from the rotating head). The RBTA tentacles have grown back and he is fine. Since he seemed to wander at night, I put the power sweep on my light timer so it went off at night. Was really ticked off that I didn't see the power sweep as a possible threat.

SO I'm thinking of getting a SEIO but am interested in knowing, before hand, if there is any threat to a moving anemone (in case he decides later to move) or if there is a way to mitigate the threat.

I had a seio and my carpet detached once and got stuck in there. Lucky I caught it early in the morning before there was too much damage. I used to use a sponge filter as well but it limits water flow and restricts water movment necessary for my sps. However I found out that the reason my carpet detached was because there was too much flow on his side of the tank. So in the end I just got rid of one seio and used another to lessen the flow of my tank. Good for my carpet since it does not detach anymore but not so good for my sps. =)

I got one seio available because of that so if you ever want to buy a one month old seio 1100 let me know. Hope this helps.

I am srue there has to be a way to make some kind of foam guard. I have two 620's in my 20g. I had a BTA go MIA on night.. the Seio's ate it up completely.. the whole thing was gone. I think if you wrapped a light layer of foam around the intake.. it would be sufficient.

Guys, if your anemones are ending up in your SEIOs, theres a problem, and the seio isnt necessarily it. Your anemone shouldnt be floating around, or roaming that far up to the top of the tank.

I've got 2 SEIO 820s, and a pair of eductors, and have never had any problems with my sebae (about 22" across) or my GBTA (about 3") or by pink tipped, pink based, green bta ( about 5")

I have a really shallow tank (48 x 24 x 10) and that is why the carpet ended up in the seio. The problem however was the flow of the tank which was too high...resulting in the carpet detaching itself. I fixed the problem by taking out one seio and putting in a less powerful powerhead.

Thanks for the input and the mod thread. I've got so many projects in work and unfinished at the moment, thinking I'll wait. The tank I would have used it in has decent flow already (about 12 to 14x) but I would like to move the power sweeps in the future to prevent any possible mishaps if my RBTA decides he's moving down the block.

Thanks again.
