Seio controllers?
I have been thinking about more flow for my 180 mixed reef, Tunzes will work but right now I don't have an extra arm or leg.
Was checking out the new Seio controllers and 2 x 1500. Has anybody got them and what do you think. For me it is going to be $300+ or $750+.
Thanks for your input.

Based on my experience with my Seio's (3x 820, 1x 620) and my success with my Tunze's... I would personally shell out the $750 no problem rather than wasting $300. You could always buy it in parts and build functionality.

No, I'm not a Tunze fanboy, but having used both Seio's and Tunze's heavy for about year, I don't have even the slightest bit of doubt which I would choose. Granted, maybe this new product will be great, but it doesn't fix all the flaws with the current models. Maybe you guys have had better luck with the 1100's and up.

Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it, don't bother flaming it ;)

Ahh, no flaming here. I had some problems with my 620's and 820's when they were new with failing to restart. Since I have had them for a while they don't have that problem anymore.

Just FYI, one of mine failed to restart just a week ago, and it's almost a year old. Not doubting you, just throwing it out there. It is possible that something in a "long term break-in" fixes the issue, but it hasn't happened to mine.

2 cracked/broken magnets, one broken shaft, and that's just the hardware failures. I won't go into the design complaints ;) That's with extremely aggressive preventive maintenance as well. I think my having two of them out of the tank today sparked my interest in responding to this thread ;)

Also, meant to mention this earlier: If you're really looking for an inexpensive solution if you're wanting to save some money, I personally rank the MJMods MaxiJet higher in quality, design, and reliability, and certainly output than my Seio's. You can put them on a wavemaker and such as well. Just an idea.

I have heard that Maxi-jet are fine out of the box on a wave maker but the min you mod them they chatter and quit, just what I have heard.

I would save the 300 and put it towards that new arm and leg! the controller only works on 2 seios by the way so if you are going to be fine with only 2 seios then go for it....but you wont

A few local guy's say that the seio controllers are not that good so until I have a lot more info which tells me different then I think that ,seriossnaps, you might be right. The 300 will have to go into a pot and wait until it grows.
Still would like to hear from someone that has one.
ANYONE OUT THERE WITH A SEIO CONTROLLER!

Hey REEF-DADDY, what do you do for flow? I know that you have a larger system than mine but interested never the less.

FWIR the Seio controller ramps both pumps up and down together, not alternating. Doesn't sound like much of a wave to me :(

I too am saving for a pair of 6100's.

I run the Tunze wave box, 2 eductors, and a couple maxi mods for problem areas. I just changed out my mag 18 return for a Dart, and may add a couple more maxi mods as things grow. As you can see here there is not much blocking the path of the flow...

That's a sweet setup REEF-DADDY, love the rock racks.
Wiskey, I wonder if we get enough guy's, we could do a bulk buy?LOL
I keep watering my $ and it still isn't growing. I might put some MH over it and hook up a calcium reactor.
