Seio`s Multicontroller

WHat I heard was running a 620 or 820 would cause the controller to reset back to normal mode at some point so the flow is constant. It is just a matter of how long they run before being reset. Evidentally the controller monitors the output so if the pump has an impedance that is out of the controllers designed range it will be visited by evil spirits.

Honestly, its not like a Tunzie 7095 it controls the pumps, but to recreate the surging effect you would need to have 2 controllers.Nevertheless even with one ramping both pumps up and down simultaneously it still creates some nice chaotic flow patterns.

I also touched the units to see if they heat up alot and they are warm.

Wait a minute. THe new controller does not alternate the pumps? ie ramping one pump up while the other is being ramped down?

That is the thing I wanted to gain the most from it. I dont see much advantage to the controller if both pumps are on the same cycle.

Ramping both synchronously is actually how some people run their Streams. It works very well for high flow demanding SPS. Another potentially good option for this kind of controller would be to have 1 or 2 controllable seios on one side of the aquarium, and a non-controlled one on the other side. If you had say ~2500 gph of flow that is ramped 30-100% on one side, and a constant say 1100 or so of flow on the other side you'd get back-and-forth and random collision action throughout most of the tank. At least that is something I am going to try out with a single Tunze on one end and a seio on the other...

Even if they do operate up and down together....it could be useful using different angles that the pumps would face. You are looking for chaotic flow anyways. I added a red sea wavemaster pro...one of the best additions for me for chaotic flow. I currently run three seios and welcome the opurtunity to ramp them up and down even if it is the same pumps at the same time. I plan on getting one to try it out. Have tried the mj mod....went back to the seios. Only my opinion and preference.

Are you running the seios on the wavemaster?

Hrmm, one thing no one seems to ask is what if the pumps stall out? I know that on the normal cycling mode, it only turns it down to 30% but I'm pretty sure it shuts the system completely off during the feeding mode of 8 or 16 minutes.

If their like the ones i have you take them out of water and BANG
them to get it started again

buy a 20 $ MJ and TRY IT.. dont bother modding it.. just see if the pump runs... the only thing it could possiably danmage is the pump ( dont worrya bout the seio controler) so ho wmany of you have these alreadya nd are willing to try it

are you gonna ask that again?

Nope.... dunno what happened there..... sorry:rolleyes:

Nope not using the seios on the wavemaster....only maxi's with seios for added flow. As soon as I get a controller i will put a maxi on it. I have two 1500's waiting to be hooked up to a multicontroller when I get one.

I have three 820's now and have not had one jam up...and one cycles on and off with the lights.

Has anybody thought of connecting their return pump to the controller? This will give variable output to the tank's surface (or wherever the return water enters the tank) and it will give the pump a hot button for feed mode.

not a bad idea, but that is what I use the wavemaster for....it has a feed mode but only runs at 100%. It would all depend if the controller will work with other pumps.

Hi all,
I use the 1500 and 2600 never had to bang them.We just got back from a tradeshow where we setup 2 1500 with a controller on a 150 Reef Display, what a hit everyone lked them.

The controller works, the 8 min or 16min feed mode is also a nice feature.

My one beef with the SEIO pumps and not the controller is the 2600 hanging options, you honstly have no choice but to use the suction cups!!!which of coarse detaches from the glass. With the 1500 I did not have that problem.

There is a mod on here somewhere that you drill one hole in one of the hangers, turn it sideways and it works like a dream. If you can, do a search. If I don't see that you found it by tomorrow, I (or someone else) will try and post the link. I did it on my 1500 and it works great! Hate suction cups...

Thanks Tim,

I remember that thread,I got to find it,if anyone remembers it please post a link.

Thanks

Robin

I have seen the mod also it is for the 1500 I have 2 waiting for the controller, and my 2600 doesn't seem to have the right parts for the mod unless I am using the wrong mod pages, is there one specifically for the 2600?

I tried today to see if the parts supplied with the 2600 can be modded, but no luck if you want to mod the hanger the part you need has to ordered seperatly from TAAM :(

I have a Acrylic company who built my 115 all in one sump, they are designing a adjustable hanger for the 2600 for me .The first prototype is done I just got to go by and see it,I will post some pics of it.
It will be adjustable from 2" to 6"
