Selcon locally?

There is this new product that Aquatech came out with recently. They are the makers of Phyto2 if you are familiar with them. It is called S.E.L.C.O Boost. The only place I've seen it locally though is Beyond the Reef at 19.99. There isn't much info on it on the web since it is very new. It contains all sorts of vitamins and goodies for the fish without the additional bad nutrients for your reef. I've been using it for about 2 months and I have to say I don't think I'll ever stop using it. My fish eat like pigs and I can definitely see their colors come out.

Sweet.... I'm really doing it mainly for my Gigantea, but fish as well would be an added bonus. Who makes it? can you post a picture?

These guys make it. http://www.aquatechco.com/ They are actually local to Algonquin if I'm not mistaken.

It's a small bottle but it goes a long way. All you do is a small pump to soak up your food for 5-15 mts and walla!

Were you looking for Selcon and found this instead? How have things looked since you started feeding it?

I thought I got Selcon at Exotics before. It was awhile back though. Was in a refrigerator along with their phyto.

Aren't Selco & Selcon different things? I remember reading somewhere that one is a fat supplement, and the other is a vitamin supplement.

They did at the old store just to have on hand. I don't get why people don't carry it locally. The stuff is like gold.

Yea, I don't know enough about 'selco boost' to buy any.. at least for what I am trying to accomplish. My goal is primarily to get food soaked in the Selcon and then feed it to my Gigantea for optimal health and growth. I emailed the people who make Selco Boost and they haven't returned my email since posting this thread, so they lost my business. I ordered Selcon today.

If anyone knows someone selling it locally let me know.

I think Rod's has either Selco or Selcon already mixed into the food... I'm not sure which one, but I know he was feeding exclusively to his Gigs.

That sucks that they didn't answer back. My fish actually look fantastic after I started feeding. Their color is amazing and they eat like pigs. As for coral and nems I don't think I can speak too much cause I don't target feed. Everything looks happy though. I don't if it is the boost or my recent change to LEDs though. I don't think it would harm them having all those vitamins in it. As in for difference in Selco and Selcon I can't speak of either as I have not done proper research as in to the difference. I hope the company gets back to you and you can share what they have to say. I'm very interested.

yea, such is life... I picked up some of the selco boost from Exotic Aquatics yesterday and fed my fish, as well as target fed the Gig with it... Selcon will be here on Wednesday so looking forward to getting that regiment established with my Gig.

Thanks guys!

What are your thoughts for first time?

Messed with the head on my skimmer (random issue I have been having since Saturday), but the selco made it worse. I know the oily stuff does that so nice big deal... Other than that, fish liked it, and I fed the Gig a little piece of krill that was soaked in it which he took right away. Tomorrow I'll feed the Gig another piece soaked in Selco Boost as well.

I am getting actual Selcon in the mail come Wednesday so will be switching over then. I ordered enough bottles to last me a year :-)

After going through many liters of SELCO, I have found that the freshness can vary. IME it should be very thick ~almost toothpaste consistency. We have to squeeze and shake to get the stuff out of the liter bottle.

OOPs I misread.. I read Selco and not "Selcon".

SELCO in a highly concentrated version of selcon without the preservatives, or more correctly, Selcon is diluted and preserved SELCO.

Im not familiar with Selco boost,

I just pulled up the Rod's Food site, and it looks like all blends contain "Selco". So if Selco is the non-diluted version of "Selcon", why not just use Rod's?

Im not familiar with Selco boost,

Thanks for the insight Rod... I just know that for my purposes (Gig feeding and nursing back to health) many of the experienced reefers here soak the target feedings in "Selcon" with great success. I don't know much about Selco Boost, but know that Selcon is widely used with a lot of success. I have been soaking the herbivore Rod's with Selcon and the fish go absolutely insane.. even more so than before, so we'll see what happens.

Do you just feed your Gigs just the straight Rod's?

See above.. I'm just going by the wisdom of others who have been keeping Gigs for a long time and specifically with nursing them back to health. I also hear and see Selcon but no one adding Selco specifically.. The one annoying thing with the oily nutrient additions is it kills the foam on my skimmer for a few hours, then it picks back up again.
