selling it all off....

Time has come to take a break-I think. Work and other committments make it too hard for me to keep up on the tanks.

Won't be around for a couple weeks, but when I return, I'll post up when folks can come by. Some wonderful fish, and a lot of corals- some very unique.

As a newcomer to CDMAS I don't know you well. But something tells me this would be a loss to our club. I hope you change your mind. Cut back if you have to but don't quit.

Sad to hear your taking a break Michael ....

But let me/us know when we could stop by, you know we'd all love some of your stuff :p

and when you do come back, at least ya know we'll all have a lil something for ya :)

Work and other committments make it too hard for me to keep up on the tanks.

Me too, for over a year now, but I've been hanging on and surprisingly my tanks are doing pretty damn well. I can't tell you how many times I came so close to making one of these "selling it all" posts myself, but it's just too hard to give up on all the work I put into my system. There are some low times like when I'm tired or busy and something goes wrong that has to be fixed immediately and it seems like the last straw or when my Nimo bill exceeds $500, but I have to say that most of the time I am happy the tanks are still up.

Even though I don't have much time to spend staring at them, just walking by usually puts a smile on my face - even though sometimes it's hard to see through the glass that I've slacked on cleaning. :D And when I do get around to cleaning it, I'm always reminded of why I keep hanging on.

Michael,
If you are indeed serious I would be interested in some of your stuff. Sorry to hear about the decision. I hope whatever it is changes and you are able to get back into the hobby.

...sometimes it's hard to see through the glass that I've slacked on cleaning. And when I do get around to cleaning it, I'm always reminded of why I keep hanging on.

That's funny, cause I often feel the same way. Sometimes I walk by the tank and say, "Ugh!", so much work; am I really doing the inhabitants justice. Then I spend an afternoon cleaning up and presto!, all of a sudden I'm like, "Wow, this thing is sooo cool."

Michael, I hope you're not totally serious, but if you are, I'd be interested. I don't have lots of space, but I could offer a few pieces a good home.

Sorry to hear this Michael, I hope you can find some time to make it to meetings occasionaly and keep active hear on the board. If you can't your experience and knowledge will be missed. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I hope my project is done enough isn a few weeks and if it is and you are still looking to sell(I know a few weeks can sometimes change a point of view) I will take some live rock off your hands.

Michael, although i never met you, you have to hang in there, at least keep a nano or something. We were going to trade Bangai's. If theres anything we can do to help, LMK.

michaelg..........GONE!?!?

NO WAY....he's just taking Sabatical....he'll be back.

What can I/we hold for you while "you're away"? ;)

Michael, this is why I also "Simplified" a few years ago.

Getting "OUT" of it would do more damage to you personaly than you realize.

Trust me, just simplify, and be happy with a tank or 2, and a small bit of propigation. I have a very busy life also ( as do most of us all here ) but as Vin said... "the walk by glance" is sometimes all we need to put a smile on our face :)

I second Tony's comments

please say it isn't so!!!!!!

I hope all is well and you are not serious about getting out......

I am more than willing to adopt some corals for you so when you change your mind you have a good restart.

I agree with Tony... I would be happy to hold somethings. I would hope you do not leave. Of all the members in the club, Michael i have to say you have helped us along the most.

A true inspiration:) A key person. Your insights, wisdom & ambitions to promote coral propagation within the club has been very helpful.

Michael - I do not know you very well, but I have seen the contributions you have made to the hobby since I have been a member of this forum. I can understand the desire to take a break from the hobby, but I think Dave's message of simplifying would be a good first step. With the commitments of work and life, it can be a real pain to maintain several tanks -- I am thinking about going down to one tank myself for the same reasons.

Regardless, we are all willing to help out whatever you decide.

It looks like it was just a bad night at the end of a rough week for me. Will not let the emotions run wild again... but this did bring about some realizations for me.
I haven't had my priorities straight with what I need to occassionally do for myself.
Won't go into further details, but I am making specific "tank" time of 1-2 hrs a couple times a week. I will find a way to get some sort of small tank somewhere else in the house besides the basement.

Anyone have a 30g cube laying around?
