MACNA XVIII is being held in Houston September 22-24, 2006. Many club members including Robert, Chris, Larry, Herman, Ty, Matt, Larry, Carl, and others will be attending this event. This months meeting will be held on September 26, 2006 at 7:15 at New River Middle School (3100 Riverland Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312). At this months meeting we plan to each bring back a little piece of MACNA back to share with the club. We will be taking pictures of interesting things we learn to share with the club at the September meeting. After our MACNA discussion this month there will be a livestock/equipment auction. These auctions are a great way to buy frags at a great cost and to help the club out. Please bring any frags you can to help out! A thread on reefcentral has been started to post pictures of frags for the auction.
The Broward Fish Hop is also fast approaching and it is sure to be a big hit this year. The Fish Hop is planned for November 4, 2006. We have a large bus to take us to member's houses to see their tanks. It will be a full day event including many spectacular tanks! The fee will be $10 for members and $15 for non-members. This fee is to help cover the cost of the bus. You may sign up at the September meeting and the October meeting assuming the bus is not full already. You will need to bring cash or check to place your name on the list and reserve your seat.
The October meeting will be held on October 23, 2006 (fourth but not last Tuesday of the month) at New River Middle School. Details for this meeting are in the works, but it looks as though we will have an assortment of topics by members including frag plug making by Matt, Homemade fish food by Rogger, and Acropora Eating Flatworm and Red Bug information by Chris.
This years frag swap/sale was a huge success. Plans for the next swap/sale are in the works. We hope to make this the biggest/best frag swap ever. This frag swap will be around February.
