September Meeting Announcement - Coral Pests

Crap that does remind me to get a box of purple up for the meeting and a case of freeze dried nightcrawlers. Lmao

I prefer meal worms myself.
Regardless of the raffle this meeting is great for novice and experienced reefers alike. All of us at some point will encounter some type of pests in our tanks no matter how careful we are.

Lol by some of you I believe you mean "ME" since I opened up about it. Funny thing is sarcasm doesn't translate well in writing. The bag, the fish, and the purple up were exaggerated sarcastic examples to push my point thru not actual things that took place. I still believe a different method should be employed as far as raffles go

Your point has been made and the Board us currently discussing options just as we said we would. There was no sarcasm intended. This has been blown out of proportion and if there are issues we would prefer contact off the threads.

Ya this is a topic I always had interest in but with so many opinions on so many websites it's hard to really understand. And I really don't know of all the pests that can be introduced. So this is gonna be a good meeting.

Many of the clubs OGs have gotten one pest or another at so point. Hopefully we'll have a good turn out and an active discussion about the topic. That way you can hear about different ways to avoid and/or eradicate different pests and hitchhikers.
See you there.

Has anyone given thought to Videotaping the meetings? I would be willing to create a YouTube CTARS channel and posting the meeting so that those who cannot attend can still get the great info put out. However, someone would need to provide a decent camera because i do not have one.

Just a thought...

Sammy

We had actually videoed the meeting that Hunter Hammond was at but the quality was so bad that I was embarrassed to even post it anywhere :hmm4:

The camera I have would be okay to say the least at a place like the Lutz but anywhere else would be questionable...

If you would be willing to edit the files and take care of the YouTube channel I'm sure the Board would be fine with this...another thing we can discuss...I'll shoot out an email tonight :)

I am going to look into a decent camera for vids. I may not have one until CMAC though. But i have some cool ideas.
- Members Vids , ones they tape and maybe home visits to talk about their stuff. Maybe Tank of the Month winners.
- Interviews with LFS in ct.
- Meetings
- Events
- Interviews with Board members
Etc.

Well I am willing to make this my thing. As soon as I get the go ahead and come up with a basic outline of what it will be all about and have it approved ill start setting it up.

Im excited

Sammy

Hey everyone, I just want to remind you that Saltychick still has this going on throughout pretty much the rest of the year. Please contact her here on RC if you are interested in helping out with this cause!

Here is her message to everyone...

Hello,
As some of you know I work for Kay Jewelers and they have a
partnership with St. Judes. Now through December 24th we are selling
these absolutely adorable and cuddly bears and pups for just 12.99 +
tax. All proceeds go to the St. Judes Children's Hospital. I will be
bringing them to the September meeting and to CMAC.

Have no one to give the bear to? That's okay! We can donate it in your
name. On Christmas eve the staff and I will personally deliver all
donated animals to a local children's hospital.

To make it easy for everyone I am asking that you pm me ahead of the
conference and let me know if you would like Kip (the puppy) or Kenny
(the bear) so I know how many to bring. Please bring $14 cash; the extra .20 cents will be put into our St. Judes "give at the register"

Thanks so much!
Amber

(Amber have one of each of these guys for me at the meeting please!!!)

Sammy, love the ideas for the video.

My opinion would be to keep these videos in the member section of the CTARS webpage, this way people need to join the club vs just going on YouTube to get all the free info, if this has already been discussed I apologize for the duplication.

Ya I also this the idea is great but mayb not meeting videos. Then there would be less people that would feel they "have to come" to a meeting.
