September meeting

Reef Bass

colors and textures
I am pleased to announce that our September meeting will be held at Caesars, Thursday, September 10 at 7pm.

In case you haven't heard, James recently set up not one but two lovely coral flats with high quality metal halide lighting and Lumenarc reflectors.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

guy....you can come over to my house and we'll have our own meeting around a bottle of Maker's!

Sadly, I have given up the Maker's:(

But, a glass of wine.....

I went to Ceasar yesterday and they do have two nice flat frag tanks. The prices on clams are better than before, (I can do so much better at Aquatic central in SF, their maxima clams are bigger too) Also Ceasar frags prices are not as "out there" as they used to be(still very expensive compared to Steve's). Personal issues aside, the club's goal is the main reason in this case, I think I'll try to go to this next meeting anyway.

Hey there,

Had to go to Ceasars today for some food and saw the two new frag tanks. They look good and the prices weren't to bad. But I miss the selection of other stuff as the whole middle section is gone. I was told they are going to put 2 or 3 new tanks in there for saltwater as the fish selection is very minimal now. I wanted some new nassarius but they didn't have any.

Unfortunately I will be in the Sierra for this next meeting so have fun without me:(

Although I will be flyfishing the Carson River and surrounding areas for a couple days so don't feel to bad for me:rollface:
Craig.

Bum! I mean, good for you buddy! Have fun.

Did you notice the rack of small critter tanks above the back of the two new frag tanks? Good use of space.

I am interesting in knowing how this goes, I have always wanted to fish the Carson River, where will you be staying?

They will be putting in two 100 galllon tanks over on the fish side for larger fish. You must have hit them on a day before their order showed up Craig. They actually have more fish now, but since they are a little cheaper they are flying out the door.

The colors on the sps are already looking better with the Lumenarcs!

I was in there Wednesday and yes, the colors on the sps in the new tanks at Caesars are defniitely looking much better. Red Planet actually looks reddish!

I also noticed their SW fish tank populations seemed lower than usual. Two 100g tanks would be a nice addition to their ability to adequately house larger specimens.

As much as I love lionfish, triggers and tangs, I am more in the market for colorful little reef safe fishes.

FYI, I'm trying to get Tom from Pacific Garden Supply (manufacturers of Lumenarc) to come speak to our club.

I was told their fish population is low because they started lowering their prices and fish are swimming out the door. haha. This could be a cool thing. Yes Ken more reef fish woudl be awesome.

Ken I saw the critter tanks as a matter of fact I saw a seahorse escape into the coral section and let them know that they might want to put it back in.
I am almost ready to start mry fish only tank although it might be a dwarf lion softie reef. I still have the T5 system I bought form Mike and It will work perfectly. I just need to create a cave for the lion to hide in.

The rock/foam work came out great my wife did most of the work and while fairly easy it was time consuming. I will post a thread later.

Guy this is my first time up there so it will be an experiment. My other posting spot Kienes web/forum has some guys that are like this one always able to help. I got many pms with spots to try and places to stay. Iw ill cam for a couple days at Forest Service spots but I want to take a look at Carson River resort as they have private water. I emailed them and no response yet but I think if you stay there you can fish the private section.

They have cabins that look nice and start at @$100 a night.

I may go back in October to photograph some fall colors.

O.k> enough typing for now I probably should get out and patrol.

Craig.

Craig,
LMK if you see any good places for me and my 24' travel trailer.
I have not gotten out in it all summer, let alone wet a line.
