serpant starfish

Do serpant starfish bother anything. I have a 45 gallon all fish. I have some gobies, mandarin, condylactis anemone, fire shrimp. I was given a serpant star yesterday and put it in my tank. I have a candy cane goby that usually stays under a rock and comes out to eat only. When I came home today, she was on top of a rock. Also the anemone didn't look quite right. Is this because the starfish is new to the tank, or is it a problem? thanks.

I doubt it, serpent starfish are very good tank mates and shouldn't bother anything. And even if it wasn't a good tank mate, I don't think it would be able to harm any of your other inhabitants.

But overall, serpent stars shouldn't bother anything. My firefish and Jawfish sleep in the same rock that both of mine hang out in, and they have not eaten my fish when they've had perfect chances, so they'r good and reliable tank mates.

You should test your water and try to find out what else could have caused this.

Good luck!

I have a red serpent star from liveaquaria I blamed my star for about a week for bothering my plate coral put it in to to qt for a day. That night I look and my emerald crab is on top of the plate biting the tentacles. The serpent star was released back to the dt and crab in qt. Occasionally the serpent will pass over the coral put it will inflate again in a couple of minutes so serpent stars are reef safe.

Same here. Mine does not bother anything. I see reaching out from the rock at times but for the most part he keeps to himself.
