Serpent Star question

Richard or anyone....
Is it possible that my serpent star had babies? There are several little striped tentacles coming out from under a rock in different places to grab particles of food when I feed the tank. I do understand with this rock it is quite possible to discover new stuff months down the road. But I'm talking about my 6g nano reef which is almost 1 year old now. I added a serpent star to the tank from my last C.A.R.E. package a few weeks ago.

I should've taken a picture. From what I saw there must be 4 or 5 of them.

Possibly..

Possibly..

Hmmm

Have not seen that before, but with your excellent reefkeeping skills....who knows!

I have found the same thing, I moved some rock to take a look and found a small serpent star looking critter that is white and black stripped. I doubt it's a baby from my black/grey star
I also discovered them about a year later, I have at least 3 or 4 of them.
I figured they were hitchhikers from the rock, they never come out but I can see there tenticals reaching out from under the rock.

There are several brittle stars that come on this rock, but are typically a bit bristly looking compared to the serpents. Mine are grey striped, and will stick there legs out from crevices, shells, powerheads etc, but never get much bigger than a couple inches tip to tip.
Could it be those?

I thought of brittle star too, but these legs are not bristly and much longer than a couple of inches. I did not see them until I put in the one serpent star from the C.A.R.E. package. It is quite possible they have been there this whole time...if so then WOW! I need to watch my tank closer and more often. :)

My rock was loaded with small zebra striped serpent stars. Still is. All I really ever see are three to four legs extending out of nooks and crannies fanning the water for tidbits.

Funny. Just the other day, a random red shrimp about 1" long (not pistol or pep), walked around one of my rocks, then disappeared. Never seen before or since. This rock has lots of surprises.
