Serranus phoebe

They are very cool fish. They hop all around the tank all day. My lfs had one in their main display for over two years they get to about four inches and eat any shrimp or fish that can fit in their mouth. Very cool colors. I think he had a few others for 35 bucks

Here's mine..

I have collected and kept them in the past. Here they are called tattler basslets and are found deeper then many of the other basslets. I have never seen one in less then 100 ft deep, they are on the sand near the ledge where I look for bank butterflyfish and wrasse bass at around 150 - 180 ft.

I have never had any trouble with them, they eat any meaty type of frozen foods and left the other fish alone. Mine did eat any small shrimp like all of my Pederson's and Thor shrimp but left the golden coral banded and Atlantic skunk cleaners alone. I kept it until I moved the tank and it was never any trouble to care for.
