Setting for nice reef pictures

Thank you very much IslandCrow for the very detailed explanation of the bigger picture of these two. I really appreciate it! The mantra of Misled and others is, "shoot in RAW and correct white balance in software." It looked at tutorials and it seems that I can correct WB in either Lightroom or Photoshop. I found the dropper and temp and tint sliders in Lightroom tutorials. I also found the RGB sliders in the levels adjustment layers in Photoshop tutorials. So it looks like I can correct WB in either or both, right?
 
That's correct. Setting the white balance is a pretty basic element in just about any decent photo editor. As a matter of fact, your camera probably came with software that can do the exact same thing.
