Setting Up 10g Nano Reef

Hello everyone, today I plan on purchasing a 10 gallon tank to be used as a Nano reef. I used to have a 29 gallon cichlid tank, and a 125 gallon cichlid tank. I then converted the 29 gallon to saltwater. I had a thread on here but cant seem to find it.

Anyways, here's my plan, along with some questions.

Something like this, but in the left corner of the tank.

Here's a diagram of what I want

Ok now come the questions:
1. My acrylic is clear, and I want a black overflow. I just assumed everyone painted their acrylic black, but apparently that's not the case. Should I paint mine and which paint should I use?

2. I plan on keeping chaeto in the overflow. The front of the overflow box will be black (either by painting or something else) and the side will be clear. I feel that enough light will come through the clear side for the Chaeto to grow, true or false?

3. When working with the acrylic, would it be ok to use a hacksaw, or do I need to use a table saw/router/etc.

1. I wouldn't recommend painting the acrylic. It would be to risky with possible toxic chemicals leaching back into to water. Why not buy black acrylic?

2. It may work

3. Its very difficult cutting acrylic with a hacksaw.

Alright, big change of plans. I decided against the overflow because a 10 gallon is small enough and doesnt need more room taken up in it. So, I dug around my basement and found my old Bio-Wheel 350 I used for my cichlid tank. I did some research and saw that people use these for fuges much like the AC 110's. Now I plan on putting Chaeto and a LED on one side, and carbon on the other side (or some combination like that). So, I got the back of the tank painted, and put some salt in it. It's currently lit by two Compact Fluorescent 60 watt bulbs so the lighting really isnt too horrible. My final lighting will be provided by a single PAR 38 12 bulb LED.

I plan on buying some LR and filter floss today to get my cycle started. This weekend I will buy my lights, sand, possibly some Chaeto, and more Live rock. Ill take pictures when everything is set up.

I just added 2 pounds of cured Live Rock, is this enough to start a cycle? ANd if not, should I throw some food flakes in there?
